THE URSULINA is Here

“I found myself wondering where the beast was, and what it really was, and why it hadn’t killed me.

Somehow I knew, I already knew even as a girl, that we would meet again.”

THE URSULINA is real. And it’s available today, exclusively from Audible, with amazing narration by January LaVoy.

This book works hand-in-glove with my earlier novel (and Edgar Award finalist) THE DEEP, DEEP SNOW — although perhaps not in ways that you’re expecting. Like that book, it’s a gripping, emotional mystery, and also one of my personal favorites among my books. In fact, I have to say I’m prouder of this two-book set than just about anything I’ve done. I hope you enjoy the shocking twists and turns — and the moving climax — as Deputy Rebecca Colder tells you her story.

THE URSULINA

You’ve been waiting almost two years for the follow-up novel to my Edgar Award finalist and New York Times bestseller THE DEEP, DEEP SNOW. That book was a huge hit, with more than 20,000 reviews on Audible for the audio edition, narrated by the amazing January LaVoy.  Well, the new novel is almost here. THE URSULINA will be released on June 24, exclusively from Audible. And January is back to do the narration. (For all of you print and e-book fans, don’t worry: Blackstone will be releasing those editions in 2022.)

You may recall the story of the Ursulina from the first book…it’s a mythical beast that stalks the forests, much like Bigfoot or Sasquatch. But to Deputy Rebecca Colder of Black Wolf County, it’s no myth. And people are dying. This book takes us on Rebecca’s dark journey to reveal the truth about the Ursulina…a journey that will lead her to the most excruciating choice a mother can make.

Here’s what January LaVoy said about the experience of narrating this new book: “When we finished recording this audiobook, there was a moment of silence, and then my engineer said, kind of reverently, ‘Wow.’ I said, ‘I know!!’ Not to imply that we’re jaded – we’re not – but we record a *lot* of books together, and the impact of this one was different.”

I hope you feel the same way about this book. It’s available for pre-order right now from Audible or Amazon. If you’re not an Audible member, you can try it for free — and when you do, you’ll be able to order and keep THE URSULINA at no charge. (And don’t forget to listen to THE DEEP, DEEP SNOW, too.)

Have you been waiting for the paperback of my first Jason Bourne thriller THE BOURNE EVOLUTION? You won’t have to wait much longer. It’s coming May 25!
Of course, it’s also available right now in hardcover, audio, and e-book.
Kirkus named the book one of their top mysteries and thrillers of 2020 and called it “a treat for fans of the late Robert Ludlum.” This book is a complete re-boot of the Bourne series, so you don’t have to have read any of the earlier books. Dive in!
Plus, reading the first Bourne book will whet your appetite for the return of Jason Bourne this summer in THE BOURNE TREACHERY…in stores July 27!

Something Special

I love to see this Bookreporter.com review of INFINITE: “It is so rare to have a psychological thriller that not only completely succeeds…but also plays with your heartstrings, leaving behind an incredibly memorable reading experience. INFINITE is something special, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.”
You can find the whole review here. The reviewer, Ray Palen, really captures what I was trying to do with this novel — write a very, very different thriller that has all the twists and turns of my other books, but is an emotional novel of redemption at its core. To me, as Ray says, it’s something special. I hope you come along for the ride!

INFINITE

It’s here…my new stand-alone thriller INFINITE is available now in hardcover, paperback, e-book, and audio!

WHAT EARLY READERS ARE SAYING

“Wow…hands down the best thing you have written and I love your work.”
“I could not put it down! What a great ride”
“Absolutely brilliant”
“Captivating, enchanting, surreal, original, spellbinding, fascinating”

This is the most unusual story I’ve ever told — but also a classic Brian Freeman thriller. It’s full of twists and suspense to keep you turning the pages. It’s also a very human story of redemption, as Dylan Moran tries to reclaim his life from the mistakes of his past.
